Recordings I'm on

On my first album "All the Good Things" (Tenterhook Records 2001) I was lucky to work with some of my very favourite musicians and of course the lovely Joe Leach at the Cowshed Studio in North London. It couldn't have been a better experience - truth be known, at that time I was pretty terrified about singing my own songs in front of anyone. I'd only ever worked as an instrumentalist. But Joe nursed me through it like a trooper - and I was mightily pleased with the result - a good reflection of where I was at musically and otherwise at that time. Here's what some people had to say about "All the Good Things"  . . . . . . .

Straight No Chaser
" Ruth's warm laid back personality comes across on every one of her self crafted songs - her music is tight home baked funk . .  . and the authenticity of the music makes it fresh."

The Singer Magazine
"Hammond has a very individual sound to her vocals . . . . . completely non-imitational - rare these days.

Logo Magazine
"One of a legion of highly talented artists operating under the cultural radar .  .with alternating 3am introspection and loose limbed funk."

All Music Guide
"Quirky phrases and ear-catching harmonic twists coexist with unabashedly poppy and accessible choruses - thoroughly enjoyable."
