May 31st 2015

I've just had a fab week in the studio with two lovely blokes . . . . . . .

First up was four days @ Real World with singer, guitarist and songsmith Phil King recording his latest album  - also with Daisy Palmer on drums and Dave Johnston on bass, so much fun and I think we all done good! Phil's written some corking songs and it was a pleasure to work with Greg Freeman who worked his magic in the control room and also his assistant Jamie Neale, manning the all important tape machine of warm loveliness and generally looking after us all. Some great pics taken by Gorm Ashurst too, check them out on his website . . .

Phil King @ Real World Studios

Real World rocks! More news on the release of Phil's album later in the year . . . .

This was closely followed by a couple of days @ Bristol Music Club with pianist Gary Bamford - I would count Gary as someone who had a real influence on me musically growing up, we share alot of history, musical and otherwise :-) I was very excited and honoured to be asked by him to do a duo album of his original compositions, with me on saxophone and Gary on piano, wurlitzer and organ. It's been a treat to spend the time working towards this recording - reconnecting musically and just hanging out. We spent a great couple of days at Bristol Music Club with the lovely Jeff Spencer on sound and musical suggestion - and the result is "Restrop Wood" - I'll keep you posted on it's release . . .
